Schaerbeek (Brussels, B) | Saint Albert

The asymmetric front pipe layout is a result of the combination of two elements :  on the one hand, the desire to erect the organ in the front of the left side aisle between two pillars and on the other hand, the explicit wish of the parishioners to have a case organ designed in a contemporary style. The whole is mainly characterized by ascending lines. The partially interrupted curves lend continuity to line of the vault ribs. The flats are slightly inclined giving some relief to the instrument.

 

The specification expresses the wish to play baroque as well as romantic music on a small instrument. The fine acoustic of this large neobyzantine building has made the construction of all the pedal stops in transmission from the Great Organ possible. The Swell organ at the back can be opened in the front as well as to the main nave.
